2017-2018 New Orleans Saints

Tracy Porter picks off Peyton Manning and runs it back for a touchdown! The Saints win their first Super Bowl in franchise history. Oh how times have changed within the Saints organization. The Saints have been inconsistent the last five years to say the least. Unlike most, I believe the Saints are right around the corner from another legendary playoff run.

THE OFFENSE

One thing is for certain the Saints, yet again, will have a historically great offense even with the loss of Hightower and Cooks this offseason. The additions of Ted Ginn Jr. and Adrian Peterson are two weapons to add to the Brees and Payton’s arsenal. These two guys are looking to revitalize their careers in New Orleans. It’s almost a given that the Saints will be putting up multiple 30 point performances. The duo of Ingram and Adrian Peterson instantly becomes one of the best backfields in the NFL today. I can’t wait to see how Sean Payton decides to utilize them two together in the backfield. The emergence of Michael Thomas as the number one guy in New Orleans is evident and hopefully he keep getting better and better. The offensive line is solid with showcases one of the best lineman in the game, Terron Armstead.

THE DEFENSE

With the offseason addition of Manti Teo and AJ Klein from division rival Carolina the Saints have gained depth at the linebacker position this offseason. Hopefully Stephone Anthony gets a chance to bounce back from a not so pleasant sophomore season. The secondary was filled with injuries and it seemed that there were 15 guys that had to line up at cornerback for the Saints last season. The group never meshed well therefore giving up a tremendous amount of yardage through the air once again. I love the tandem at safety with Vaccaro and Vonn Bell. With work and improvement I believe in a couple of years they will become a top 5 safety duo. The defensive line is solid but the lack of pass rush is very worrisome. I do believe that Rankins Fairley and Jordan are a very solid group that can get the job done However, someone else will have to step up and rush the passer.

SPECIAL TEAMS

The most underappreciated group on the field at all times. Punter Thomas Morstead ,aka Legatron, is the best in the business do not debate me on this. He is always consistent and always gets the job done. Hopefully he is bored out of this mind this season and never has to punt during games. FINALLY!!! After years of searching and missed field goals the Saints have finally found a kicker. Sean Payton finally seems to have found a guy he can trust. Will Lutz came out of nowhere last year to win the starting kicking job and looked very good in his debut season.

The Draft

In order for the Saints to make a playoff run this season they have to address their defense in this draft. The main to focuses should be on an edge rusher and corner back. You never know with the Saints they may be walking away with two offensive guys in the first round.
